HISTORY of the FLYING FIESTA
In his native homeland of El Salvador, Tilo Paiz and his Latin Band would 'fly' into villages where a Fiesta was organized by locals. Tilo and his Band would fill the evening with wonderful music. A gathering place in the village would be decorated fiesta style, food was provided, and everyone young and old would dance the evening away. Proceeds from Flying Fiesta's were left in each village for local improvements.
The very first Alberta Flying Fiesta was held in 2008 in Sherwood Park, and that Fiesta included world dance performances in addition to salsa lessons, so that Albertans' could learn moves in preparation for the dance to follow. That very successful event was organized by Outcast Theatre, OverActing Imaginations Youth Theatre and co-sponsored by Strathcona County Recreation, Parks and Culture. All funds raised supported Strathcona County OverActing Imaginations Youth Theatre and a medical project in Tilo's home village in El Salvador.
And now in 2012, Tilo and his Party Band plus returning troupes of superb world dancers will 'FLY' into Ardrossan to FIESTA! and support the Ardrossan Recreation and Agricultural Society Member Groups to provide programs in our community.
